Lord Moore service
A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of The Rt Hon the Lord Moore of Lower Marsh will be held in St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey on Thursday 16th January 2020 at 12.00pm.
John Moore, Lord Moore of Lower Marsh, PC was Member of Parliament for Croydon Central from February 1974 until 1992. During the Premiership of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, Lord Moore enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks of government which culminated in his serving as a Secretary of State in the Cabinet from 1987 to 1989.
Leaving the House of Commons in 1992, Lord Moore held a number of corporate directorships and chairmanships in the City of London. A devoted family man, John Moore arguably came from nothing and made a huge success of his life, founded on the bedrock of the reforms he made in the National Health Service and Department of Social Security.
