A minute's silence to remember the victims of the Manchester attack was held before a Service of Thanksgiving to Celebrate the Centenary of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at Westminster Abbey on 23rd May. HRH The Duke of Kent attended the service.

On 29th November 1934, George Edward, Duke of Kent, married Princess Marina, daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark, in Westminster Abbey.

John Thorndike (Thorndyke), younger brother of Abbey clergyman Herbert Thorndike, emigrated to New England in the early 1630s and married Elizabeth Stratton. He is buried in the east cloister of the Abbey.
