Cleaner & General Labourer

Full Time (40 hours)

Westminster Abbey is seeking to appoint a Cleaner & General Labourer to carry out labouring work as allocated by the Works Manager, and to keep all the Works Yard areas in a clean and tidy condition.
The job requires a physically fit labourer to lift and shift materials and finish tasks set by the Works Manager, which involves assisting with team efforts, such as putting up scaffold towers, general labouring, working alone and unsupervised in carrying out tasks to the agreed standards. A good level of written and spoken English is necessary to understand instructions and carry out work safely.

Abbey Safeguarding Officer

Permanent – Full time (40 hours per week)

Westminster Abbey is seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to lead the promotion of the development and the implementation of safeguarding knowledge, policy and practice within the Abbey and associated organisations. You will provide timely and effective advice and support in respect of concerns arising about the protection of adults, young people and children at risk within the Abbey. Furthermore you will provide a vetting service, undertaking all safeguarding tasks relating to DBS disclosures for Abbey staff and volunteers.
You will lead, promote and record all safeguarding and safeguarding training activity within the Abbey.

Catalogue Inputter

Full Time – Fixed term (one year)

Westminster Abbey is seeking to recruit a Catalogue Inputter to input the current card catalogue of Westminster Abbey muniments onto Adlib archive software. You will structure and index information in accordance with guidelines established by the Keeper of the Muniments and advise and assist in working towards making an electronic catalogue available online. You will possess strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail. You will be based in the Library, which is accessible only by stairs.

Cataloguer (Works Plans)

Full Time – Fixed term for 3 months

Westminster Abbey is seeking to recruit a Cataloguer to list an important collection of about 300 architectural and working plans of the Abbey and its precincts, compiled by the Clerk of the Works and his team, and dating from the 1930s to the 1990s. They include some plans for preparations for coronations, as well as records of building and repair work to this iconic building, and to many of the buildings which surround it.

You will be physically fit and mobile to lift and carry architectural portfolios up and down on stairs.
