Summer Organ Festival 2019

Discover the Abbey’s awe-inspiring grand organ at our Summer Organ Festival this July and August.

The Abbey's magnificent five-manual Harrison & Harrison organ takes centre stage as the Summer Organ Festival returns. Hear Michel Bouvard, Isabelle Demers, Peter Holder, Matthew Jorysz and James O'Donnell bring the instrument to life at our Tuesday evening concerts and find out more about the 'king of instruments' at our Discovery events.

Tuesday 16th July, 7:00pm
Canadian virtuoso Isabelle Demers plays works by Bach, Alkan, Tournemire and Stravinsky 

Tuesday 23rd July, 7:00pm
Abbey Organist and Master of the Choristers James O'Donnell presents a programme of Bach, Vierne, Saint-Saëns and Bridge

Tuesday 30th July, 7:00pm
Assistant Organist Matthew Jorysz performs music by Clérambault, Ravel and Stravinsky

Tuesday 6th August, 7:00pm
Sub-Organist Peter Holder plays Liszt, Saint-Saëns, Alain and Franz Danksagmüller 

Tuesday 13th August, 7:00pm
Renowned French organist Michel Bouvard plays music by Widor, Marchand and Franck

'Organ Explorers' Family Event
Hands-on workshop and behind-the-scenes tour for families (children aged 9+)

Secrets of the Abbey Organ
Exclusive talk, tour and organ demonstration with the Abbey organists

Single concert: £15 (concessions £10)

Season ticket: £60 (concessions £40) – giving admission to all five concerts

Family Event: Free, booking required

Secrets of the Organ: £25 (£12.50 when purchased with a season ticket)

Season tickets and tickets for the 31st July Secrets of the Abbey Organ event can only be purchased from the Box Office.

Booking for Concerts opens Wednesday 29th May for all events except the 'Organ Explorers' Family Day. Registration opens for the Family Day on Friday 14th June (please note this event is not bookable through the St John's Smith Square Box Office).

At different times of the day, or in different seasons, the light falling in the Abbey will light up something that you have walked past a million times and never seen before.
