Sung prayer has been offered in Westminster Abbey nearly every day for over a thousand years. Services are usually sung daily during term time by the world-renowned Choir of Westminster Abbey, and by visiting choirs when the Abbey Choir is in recess.
The music sung ranges from Gregorian chant dating from the first millennium to contemporary music and encompasses the remarkable richness and variety of the Anglican choral tradition.
At this time, we are unable to hold choral services due to social distancing measures. We hope to resume these services soon.
Abbeycast, a podcast produced at Westminster Abbey, is released occasionally to mark feast days and major anniversaries. Each episode features a reading, short address, anthem, prayers, blessing and music from our Choir.Listen now
It’s a privilege to live and work here – the Abbey really is the heart of the country and its history.
