Queen’s Almsman and Abbey Oblate reads for podcast

Dr Mariama Ifode-Blease, Abbey Oblate and Queen’s Almsman, reads from St Matthew’s gospel for Abbeycast, the Abbey’s worship podcast series, released today for the fourth Sunday after Trinity.

Dr Ifode-Blease became a Queen's Almsman in 2013 and an Oblate in 2017. Mariama has been a valued member of the Abbey community since and leaves the Abbey later this year to become a curate at St James's Church, Piccadilly.

Today’s episode, ‘Come unto me’, recorded this week in the Abbey’s nave, coincides with the re-opening of the Abbey for public worship. With the resumption of services the Abbey’s worship podcasts will now be released for feast days and major anniversaries, rather than every Sunday.

The podcast is led by the Reverend Mark Birch, Minor Canon and Precentor with an Address by the Reverend Canon Dr James Hawkey, Canon Theologian. Dr Ifode-Blease reads Matthew 11: 16–19, 25–30. Edward Elgar’s O Hearken thou sung by the Abbey Choir and conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers, is supplied by the Choir’s record label, Hyperion.
