Reuse your ticket

If you buy an online ticket via the Westminster Abbey website you can upgrade it to an annual pass free of charge. This will enable you to visit the Abbey three times for the price of one.

Simply ask a member of the Visitor Experience team to upgrade your ticket to an annual pass when visiting and a new paper ticket which will be issued. You can visit up to three times in one year.

Promotional tickets (including Highlights and Lates) and tickets purchased via third parties cannot be upgraded.

Visiting during busy periods

We anticipate being very busy from April to August. We want you to enjoy and make the most of your time at the Abbey, so to avoid disappointment please be aware of the following:

  • Tickets should be ideally booked online in advance via our website
  • Tickets available on the door are very limited at the moment and wait times could be up to an hour
  • Peak times are 9.30am – 12.00pm. There is generally more availability in the afternoon.
  • Entry to the Abbey may stop before the published closure times. Please arrive during your pre-booked time slot

You can buy two Adult tickets for the price of one (not valid with pre-booked tickets) with National Rail's Days Out Guide.

How to claim

Simply bring a printed copy of your National Rail voucher and your National Rail tickets and purchase tickets in-person.

Tickets cannot be pre-booked via our website and must be purchased on the door. Please do not arrive with pre-booked tickets as this offer will not be valid.

Westminster Abbey is a working church and sometimes subject to closure at short notice.

You are welcome to visit us for individual prayer when available. Entry is via the Great West Door. There is no charge for individual pray.

Be sure to check service times before your visit and use the Great West Door entrance of the Abbey. We do not charge for attending a daily service.

We welcome members of the clergy from Member Churches of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland to apply for a Church Pass.

The Church Pass admits up to four adults, students or children 6-16 years, free of charge. (Children up to the age of 5 are admitted free to the Abbey if accompanied by an adult). The Pass may be used up to six times during a 12 month period.

Visitors using a Church Pass should check our opening times before visiting, and present the pass on arrival. Access is subject to capacity and pre-booking is not possible.

Please note: the Church Pass is only available to UK parishes and chaplaincies. Entry is via the North Door.

We offer discounted admission for residents of the City of Westminster, using the City Save card. Please visit Westminster City Save for full terms and conditions. Access is granted subject to capacity.

Please check our entry times before arrival. Card-holders will need to present their City Save card on entry.

We offer free entry to UK Armed Forces personnel and up to 4 family members, on production of valid ID.

Entry is granted to UK Armed Forces personnel on a space-available basis, depending on capacity within the Abbey. Visitors will need to present their current ID on entry.

You can visit the Abbey by using a London Pass. 

There is no need to pre-book. Access is granted subject to capacity. Please check our entry times before arrival. Entry is via the North Green.

You cannot enter the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries with the London Pass, but you will be able to purchase tickets for the Galleries on arrival at the Abbey.

NHS

NHS staff can visit the Abbey for free.

Emergency services staff (police, fire and ambulance) can visit the Abbey for free.

How to claim

Tickets are issued upon arrival if space is available (pre-booking is not possible).

Simply show your relevant NHS or emergency services photo ID from upon entry. One ticket will be issued per ID.

 

Adults receiving Universal Credit will pay a reduced rate of:

  • Adult - £7
  • Family (1 Adult and 1 child) - £7

Simply show your Universal Credit letter upon entry.

It isn't currently possible for adults receiving Universal Credit to book a ticket online.

We offer free admission to disabled visitors and their carers. Tickets are available on the door, on the day of entry and cannot be pre-booked.

Highlights Tour

At times when we cannot open the entire Abbey to visitors, we offer a highlights tour at a reduced price. Tickets are only available at the Abbey.
