Margery Croft

Margery Croft, one of the maids of honour to Elizabeth, Queen of Bohemia, was buried in the south transept of Westminster Abbey on 14th December 1637 but nothing marks her grave.

Her sister Bridget had been baptised in the Abbey on 5th March 1608 and died unmarried (she has a monument at Hereford cathedral). She had a brother James. She was daughter of Sir Herbert Croft of Croft Castle and his wife Mary daughter of Sir Anthony Bourne. Sir Herbert died in the monastery of Douay where he was a lay brother.

In her will Margery hoped the Queen would pay the debts she owed at The Hague!
