George Falconer

The Hon. Captain George Falconer was buried in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey on 9th May 1780 aged 58 but he has no monument or marker. He was born in about 1722, a younger son of David, 5th Lord Falconer of Halkertoun and Lady Catherine Margaret Keith (daughter of William, 2nd Earl of Kintore). By 1745 he was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. He gave evidence at the court martial of Admiral Byng and was Captain on many ships and went to Jamaica.  At his death he commanded the Invincible and died at Liphook in Hampshire. His only son was George.
