Ellen Bust, nee Griffith, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey on 28th April 1697. An eliptical monument on the wall nearby was removed some time ago as it was decayed. The inscription is recorded as:
Beneath lyeth the body of Mrs Ellen Bust, widow, who was born in the county of Anglesey, and for above 50 years serv'd in the Royal Family in England, France and Holland. She had also two uncles, Richard Griffith, who was harbinger to King James the 1st, and Maurice Griffith, who was chirurgeon [surgeon] to Prince Charles. She was hospitable to her friends, and (to her power) charitable to the poor, and dyed eldest bed chamber woman to her Royal Highness the Princess Anne of Denmark, on the 24th of April aged 75 in the year of Our Lord 1697.
She left money to her brother's widow and children. Her niece Elizabeth Atkinson was buried near her in 1726.
