Sarah Langwith

Sarah Langwith was buried in the south cloister of Westminster Abbey on 14th February 1784 aged 91. She was the wife of the antiquary Revd. Benjamin Langwith, rector of Petworth in Sussex (where he was buried on 2nd October 1743 aged 59) and Prebendary of Chichester. Her maiden name was Gregory and she married Benjamin in 1734. Her sister Grace Gostridge had been buried in the cloister on 15th February 1780 aged 81 (wife of Con-Comyns Gostridge). Another sister may have been Mary Jennings, buried in 1779. None have inscribed gravestones.

Sarah had been living at Bromley College in Kent and seems to have had no children. Her niece Anne, wife of Nathaniel Hone, inherited most of her estate, with a remainder to William Tinswood, son of Anne by her first husband.
