Thomas Cremer

Thomas Cremer (or Creamer) and his sister Anne are buried in St Margaret's church Westminster and have an oval memorial tablet on the west wall. The inscription reads:

"Near this place lyes interred the body of Mr Thomas Cremer who dyed the 15th Sep. 1705 in his 53rd year. As doth also his sister Mrs Anne Cremer who dyed the 31 July 1737 in her 83rd year"

The title of Mrs in this case means Mistress. The coat of arms painted below shows "argent three wolves heads erased sable, a crescent for difference. On a chief gules three cinquefoils pierced or". These arms were associated with the Cremer (Cremor) family of London and Norfolk. Nothing further is known of Thomas and Anne but they were obviously parish residents.

A John Cremer married Alicia Nalson in the church on 14th January 1695/6 and Ursula Cremer married Arnold Brown on 28th May 1692 but it is not known if they were related to Thomas.

Anne's will is at the National Archives, Kew, Surrey.
