John Buswell

Dr John Buswell, musician and composer, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey on 18th November 1763, aged 30. But he has no memorial or marker.

He was born in 1733 and received degrees of music at Cambridge and a doctorate in 1758. He was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal and also sang at Windsor. In 1762 he was installed as a Lay Vicar at the Abbey (a counter-tenor) and signed his name in the Precentor's book. He published a number of songs. His widow Elizabeth (nee Fullerton) proved his will.
