Helen Walton

Helen Walton of the USA, philanthropist, was a generous donor to the Westminster Abbey Restoration Appeal, which ran from 1973-1995. At the west end of Henry VII's chapel is a large stained glass window which includes coats of arms of benefactors including Mrs Walton, on the lower row in the centre set of panels. The window was designed by John Lawson and unveiled by The Queen in 1995.

She was born in Claremore, Oklahoma in 1919, daughter of rancher L.S. Robson and married Sam Walton, who founded the Walmart chain of stores. They had four children. At one point she was the richest person in America and she died in 2007.
