William Rawle

William Rawle, celebrated maker of military items, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey on 15th November 1789, aged 68. No gravestone remains for him and he has no monument. According to journals of the day he had his workshop in the Strand in London and was also well known for his valuable collection of medals, bronzes, antique armour etc. In his will he left his estate in trust for his surviving children Caroline (wife of Joseph Dale, music master), Valentine, Cecilia (wife of Nicholas Price) and Horatio. He had also had children by Martha Reymer, Walter and William. 

His daughter Catherine had been buried in the north cloister on 3rd January 1778 aged 20. Caroline was buried with her father on 1st November 1825, aged 74.
