Abbey Choir Thrills with Festival Performance

Westminster Abbey was full on the evening of Tuesday 16th May for a performance of J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor by the Choir of the Abbey and the period instrument ensemble St James’ Baroque under the direction of the Abbey’s Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O’Donnell. All the solo arias were sung by choristers and lay vicars of the Abbey Choir.

I have been watching the film of Edward Colston’s statue emerging from Bristol’s Floating Harbour. The statue stood on the city centre Watershed, perhaps five hundred metres from Bristol Cathedral.

In his role as Sub-Organist Peter Holder is the chief musical assistant to the Organist and Master of the Choristers, playing the organ for the Abbey’s daily services and accompanying the Abbey Choir in recordings and concerts.
