On 26th November 1695 Purcell was buried in the north aisle of the choir. This was where the organ stood at this time.

Writer and Poet
John Milton, poet and writer, died in 1674 but his memorial in Poet's Corner was not erected until 1737. He has a memorial window in St Margaret's church.

Edward Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury
Politician
Edward Talbot, 8th Earl of Shrewsbury, was buried in St Edmund's chapel in Westminster Abbey. His wife Jane erected a large monument for him.

Lionel Cranfield, Earl of Middlesex
In St Benedict's chapel is a large tomb, with white marble effigies, to Lionel Cranfield, 1st Earl of Middlesex and his second wife Anne.

George, John, Arabella and Henrietta Churchill
Politician, Soldier and Sailor
Admiral George Churchill was buried in the nave of Westminster Abbey and has a large monument. His sister Arabella is also buried. John Churchill Duke of Marlborough was briefly buried here then moved to Blenheim Palace.

In the north ambulatory is the grave of Brian Duppa, Bishop of Winchester. His nephew, Sir Thomas Duppa, is buried in the north choir aisle.
