Moses Snow

Moses Snow, singer and composer, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey on 24th December 1702. He seems to have had no inscribed gravestone. He was a Lay Vicar in the Abbey choir from 1682 until his death.

His baptism, as a son of William and Ellinor Snow, took place at St Margaret's Westminster on 7th July 1661. His brothers were Thomas and George and sisters Mary and Sarah (Sarah married John Gibbons).

Moses attended the coronation of James II in 1685 and from 1686 was organist of St Katherine Cree church in London. In 1689 he was a gentleman extraordinary of the Chapel Royal and admitted in ordinary there in 1692. He sang tenor in two Court Odes composed by Henry Purcell. He attended Queen Anne's coronation in 1702 and was one of the contributors to The Banquet of Music.
