Hugh and Mary Adams

Beside the steps leading up to Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey is a green enamelled copper plate recording the generous gift of Hugh and Mary Adams of New York to the restoration appeal. The introductory plate reads

The Lady Chapel was restored 1992-1995 largely thanks to the generosity of those whose names are recorded here and in windows of the chapel.

The plates to benefactors were designed by Donald Buttress and painted by Kenneth Breeze, 1999. The inscription reads:

In loving memory of Hugh Leander Adams 1882-1956 and Mary Trumbell Adams 1884-1956 of New York
