William Hare, 1st Earl of Listowel

William Hare, 1st Earl of Listowel and his first wife are buried in the nave of Westminster Abbey. They are near the grave of Archbishop Trench. A monument was proposed for him but it was never put up.

He was son of Richard Hare and his wife Catherine (Maylor) and was created Baron Ennismore in 1800, and later Viscount Ennismore and Earl of Listowel. His first wife was Mary Wrixon and she was buried as Baroness Ennismore on 11th August 1810, aged 59. Her niece Henrietta was buried on 2nd June 1800. His second wife was Anne Latham. He was buried aged 87 on 24th July 1837. His son Richard became a Member of Parliament for Cork and married Catherine Dillon but died in 1827 and the titles were inherited by his son William.
