The Abbey is a place that's touched the lives of kings, queens, statesmen and soldiers, poets, priests, heroes and villains since 960AD. Westminster Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the resting place of more than 3,000 great Britons.

Weekends: Saturday 9:00am – 4:00pm (Last entry 3:00pm), Sunday open for services.

- Charing Cross, about 1,100 metres (16 minutes)
- London Waterloo, about 1,400 metres (19 minutes)
- London Victoria, about 1,700 metres (24 minutes)
There are no car parking facilities at the Abbey.

Plan your journey by bicycle using the Transport for London website.
Bike racks are available close to the Abbey and can be found on the Transport for London cycle parking website.
Please note that folding bikes are not permitted in the Abbey.
The nearest underground stations to the Abbey are:
- Westminster, Jubilee, District and Circle line - about 300 metres (4 minutes)
- St James's Park, District and Circle line - about 500 metres (6 minutes)

Advanced booking is highly recommended to guarantee entry during busy periods.
Abbey entry
- Up to four children aged 11 and under go free per parent or guardian.
- £5 family child tickets are available for children aged 12–18 years.
- Westminster Abbey Association members enjoy free entry.
- Registered disabled visitors and one essential companion receive free admission to the Abbey.
Bag size policy
Bags and items larger than cabin bag size (55cm x 40cm x 20cm) are not permitted in the building. Potentially dangerous objects are also not permitted.
There is a left luggage facility at Victoria station.
Security
We urge all visitors to bring minimal items with them including no large bags. All doors into the Abbey have walk-through security where we inspect bags and rucksacks.

Entrance
Entry is via the North Entrance on Parliament Square.
Mobility aids
Mobility aids, including manual wheelchairs, are available for visitors to borrow free of charge. You can request one from an Abbey Marshal when you arrive.
Steps
The Abbey has step-free access via the North Door, the Great West Door and the cloister entrance in Dean’s Yard.
While visiting the Abbey, the majority of the self-guided visitor route is step free. The exceptions are:
- The Lady Chapel and tombs of Queens Elizabeth I, Mary I and Mary, Queen of Scots with 12 steps, and an additional 3 steps into each of these spaces.
- Side chapels in the North and South Ambulatory each with a marked step.
- Shrine of St Edward the Confessor, not open to the general public apart from worship and some guided tours, with 10 steps and a steep ramp.
- Entering the Cloisters from the Abbey with 5 steps from Poets’ Corner and 5 steps from the nave. Instead, visitors can leave via the Great West Door and re-enter via the step-free cloister entrance in Dean’s Yard.
- The Chapter House with 2 steps, 7 steps, and a further 1 step.
- The Pyx Chamber with a marked step.
The main Abbey shop and the Cellarium shop have step free access. The Cellarium Café and Terrace have step-free access via a lift.
