The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries

Visit the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries, high above the Abbey floor, to discover its 1,000-year story through over 300 objects. Explore worship, monarchy, national memory and the building itself, and don’t miss the spectacular elevated view of the whole Abbey.

Opening times

Daily: 9:30am to 2:30pm (Last entry 2:00pm)

Weekends: Saturdays 9:30am to 4:00pm (Last entry 3:00pm). The Galleries are closed on Sundays.

Entry

Entry to the Galleries is via the Weston Tower, located at the south-eastern corner of Westminster Abbey (next to Poet's Corner).

You must purchase a standard sightseeing ticket to Westminster Abbey in addition to a separate timed entry ticket for the Galleries.

Modelled on Henry VII’s death mask, the king’s effigy head is stunningly lifelike and all that survives of his funeral effigy which was carried on his coffin. There are 21 funeral effigies, from the 14th to early 17th centuries, in the Galleries.

Access to the Galleries

Entry and ticketing

Registered disabled visitors receive free admission to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries.

Step-free and Wheelchair Access

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries are fully accessible to wheelchair users and visitors unable to climb stairs.

The Weston Tower Lift: Fully step-free entry is provided by a 13-person lift integrated into the Weston Tower. The lift takes approximately 2 minutes 30 seconds from the main Abbey floor up to the Galleries.
Staff Assistance: Abbey Marshals are stationed at the base and top of the tower to assist with lift operation and navigation.

Stairway access

For visitors who prefer or are able to take the stairs, the climb consists of 108 steps.
To make the ascent manageable, the staircase is broken up into 12 short flights of 9 steps each, providing frequent opportunities to pause.
