• About the Abbey

  An architectural masterpiece of the 13th to 16th centuries, Westminster Abbey has become a treasure house of artefacts. This is also the coronation church where some of the most significant people in Britain's history are buried or commemorated.

  It is still possible to experience the wealth of educational opportunities without visiting the Abbey itself. Our experienced Learning Officers can join you online and tailor our interactive sessions, costumed characters and virtual tours to meet the needs, interests and age of your class.

• Online sessions

  Westminster Abbey, as a royal church, celebrates the Commonwealth all year round, including at a special service in March. Either in person or virtually, we welcome schools from across the Commonwealth to join one our sessions, led by experienced learning officers who can bringing learning to life, in line with your programmes of study.

  Coronations have taken place in Westminster Abbey since 1066, when William the Conqueror was crowned on Christmas Day. The church has been closely linked with the royal family all through its history, and that continues today with the monarch visiting the Abbey throughout the year. Explore the Abbey's links with royalty and have a go at recreating your own coronation at home.

• Abbey Choir Reveals Life Behind The Scenes

  The Abbey held its first 'Chorister Experience' on Saturday 21st May. Thirteen boys, aged 6 to 10, attended the event which was designed to give an insight into the life of an Abbey chorister.
