New Canon Theologian appointed

It is announced today (Tuesday 21st December 2010) from 10 Downing Street that Her Majesty The Queen has approved the appointment of The Reverend Vernon White as a Canon of Westminster. He will become Canon Theologian in succession to the Reverend Canon Dr Nicholas Sagovsky, who will be leaving the Abbey in January.

Ordination and Consecration of Bishops
The Reverend Canon Martin Seeley, Principal, Westcott House, was ordained and consecrated Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich; and the Reverend Canon Michael Beasley, Director of Mission in the Diocese of Oxford, was ordained and consecrated Bishop of Hertford in the Diocese of St Albans at a Eucharist at Westminster Abbey on Ascension day, Thursday 14th May 2015.

The Venerable Karen Gorham, Archdeacon of Buckingham, was ordained and consecrated Bishop of Sherborne in the Diocese of Salisbury; and the Reverend Canon Michael Harrison, Director of Ministry and Mission in the Diocese of Leicester, was ordained and consecrated Bishop of Dunwich in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich at a Eucharist at Westminster Abbey on the Feast of St Matthias the Apostle, Wednesday 24th February 2016.

Marie of Savoy, Queen of France
In 1810 Marie Josephine Louise de Savoy was buried in a vault in the Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey. Her body was moved to Sardinia in 1811.
