William Aglionby was buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey but his gravestone has now worn away. His grave was near the wall monument to Edmund Godfrey at the east end of this cloister and he was buried on 1st December 1705. The inscription was recorded and read:
Here lyes the body of William Aglionby Esq. who dyed the 28 of November 1705 aged 63 years who had the honour to serve his Majesty King William III and her present Majesty Queen Anne as envoy extraordinary. In memory of him his affectionate wife lays this stone
He was envoy to Spain and Switzerland. His wife was Catherine Hildyard and they had a son William. Their daughter Sybilla was buried in the cloister on 11th June 1706.
He was probably a brother of Henry who died young and was buried on 6th April 1643, a son of Dr George Aglionby, prebendary of Westminster and Dean of Canterbury, as his wife was Sibilla (Smith).
