Francis Elliot

On the west wall of St Margaret's church Westminster is a small marble tablet to Captain Francis Elliot. Military emblems are shown at the top and the maker's name is inscribed:

W.H. Burke & Co. 143 Regent St and 12 Newman St. Oxford St. London.

The inscription reads:

In memory of Captain Francis Hamilton Elliot 94th regiment youngest son of John Lettsom Elliot, Esquire, died at Jullunden, East Indies 29th of March 1863 aged 25 years. This tablet is erected by his brother officers

His father was churchwarden at St Margaret's 1839-1840 and in 1853.
