Frances Gower

Frances Gower, only daughter of Sir Thomas Gower (died 1672), 2nd Baronet of Stittenham in Yorkshire, was buried in the north quire aisle of Westminster Abbey on 17th April 1698 but she has no marker. Her mother was Frances, coheir of Sir John Leveson of Kent and Shropshire. She died unmarried and her will, as of Trentham in Staffordshire, was proved by her nephew Sir John Leveson Gower, politician, later Baron Gower and ancestor of the Duke of Sutherland. It is assumed her nephew arranged for her burial in the Abbey rather than Trentham.
