Edmund and Frances Meyrick

On the wall of the north cloister of Westminster Abbey is a small white marble memorial, by sculptor Peter Scheemakers, to Frances (Smith) wife of Captain Edmund Meyrick. The inscription reads:

Under here lye the remains of Mrs Frances Meyrick wife of Edmond Meyrick. Obiit [died] September 23rd 1734 aged 49. Thy Judge will sure on thee a crown bestow whose virtues do imbalm thy name below

Their daughter was Frances. Edmund remarried Anne and was buried in the cloister on 27th June 1742 aged 63 but he has no marker. Her brothers Nathaniel Smith, of Kingston upon Hull and William, of Lambeth, were buried with her on 1st October 1755 and 12 September 1738 respectively Her sister Elizabeth was buried on 27th May 1760.
