    It is announced that the Reverend Jane Sinclair, Canon of Westminster, is to take on the responsibility of the Rector of St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, in succession to the Venerable Andrew Tremlett, with effect from 1st September 2016, following his installation as Dean of Durham in the summer.

  • Robert Lowe, Viscount Sherbrooke

    Politician

    Politician Robert Lowe (Viscount Sherbrooke) has a bust in the eastern porch of St Margaret's Church Westminster. He was born at Bingham, Nottinghamshire in 1811.

  • Henry Purcell & family

    Musician and Composer

    On 26th November 1695 Purcell was buried in the north aisle of the choir. This was where the organ stood at this time.

  • John Milton

    Writer and Poet

    John Milton, poet and writer, died in 1674 but his memorial in Poet's Corner was not erected until 1737. He has a memorial window in St Margaret's church.

  • Humphrey Salwey

    Politician

    Salwey was buried in the north ambulatory of Westminster Abbey in 1652. But his body was exhumed, with other followers of Oliver Cromwell, in 1661.

  • John Bull and Marlborough Tatton

    On the north wall of St Margaret's Church is a cartouche to John Bull, an eminent rich merchant (according to his entry in the register).
