Chisholm Family

The Chisholm family of the USA were generous benefactors to the Westminster Abbey restoration appeal. Plaques in enamelled copper for various benefactors line the stairway up to Henry VII's Lady Chapel. These were designed by Donald Buttress and painted by Ken Breese, 1999.

The main plaque reads:

The Lady Chapel was restored 1992-1995 largely thanks to the generosity of those whose names are recorded here and in windows of the chapel.

The Chisholm plaque, on the south side, simply reads:

CHISHOLM
Alexander Field
Elisabeth Wisner
Margaret Ann

Alexander was a banker and oil executive who died in 1974. He and his wife Elisabeth were sponsors of the famous American opera singer Leontyne Price and they lived at Laurel, Mississippi. Margaret is one of three daughters.
