Exhibition: Icons for Hope and Faith
For three days only, see iconographers in action and listen to short talks about from members of the British Association of Iconographers.
Meander where medieval monks would meet in our Chapter House as you discover more about the art of iconography. Watch the meditative process of icon writing, a prayerful painting of an image that aims to depict the true inner likeness of Christ, Mary or the saints, as iconographer Hanna Ward writes an icon throughout the day. Find out more about the rules, prayer and deeper meaning which makes this tradition so unique with short drop-in talks from iconographer Ka-yee Chan or Sister Esther, president of the British Association of Iconographers. Talks will take place at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 11:00am and 1:00pm on Saturday. .

About the British Association of Iconographers
The British Association of Iconographers exists to deepen the knowledge and inner understanding of icons and the spirituality associated with them, whilst establishing contact with all iconographers – learners, beginners and those with a great proficiency throughout the world.

Free for Associates - Admission will be granted upon presentation of a valid Association membership card.

The demonstrations will be open when visiting is available. Please check opening hours before your visit.
Talks will take place as follows:
Thursday - 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm
Friday - 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm
Saturday - 11:00am and 1:00pm
