Queen’s Organ dedicated in Lady Chapel

His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex attended the dedication of a new organ in Westminster Abbey’s Lady Chapel on Tuesday 5th November.

Edward Spragge

Sailor

Admiral Sir Edward Spragge was buried in the north aisle of Westminster Abbey (most probably the north ambulatory) but his grave was never marked.

Edward VI

Edward succeeded his father when he was just 9 years old and was crowned in the Abbey on 20th February 1547. He died in 1553.

Edward Webber

On the wall of the Dark Cloister of Westminster Abbey is a marble tablet in memory of Edward Webber, a King's Scholar at Westminster School.

Edward Cooke

Sailor

A memorial to Captain Edward Cooke, Royal Navy, is in St John the Evangelist's chapel, on the back of the wall which forms Wolfe's monument.

Edward Jones

Priest/Minister

The Reverend Dr Edward Jones, Bishop of St Asaph, and his son Richard are buried in St Margaret's Church Westminster.

Edward Lloyd

In St Margaret's Church is a memorial tablet to Edward Lloyd, publisher and newspaper proprietor. He also had a stained glass window in the church.

Queen Alexandra, wife of Edward VII

Queen Alexandra was born in 1844, the daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark. With her husband Edward VII, she was crowned in 1902.

John Gregory worked as the Abbey carpenter and on his death his widow Elizabeth took over the running of the business.

Feast of the Translation of Saint Edward the Confessor

Lady Mary Firebrace

Lady Mary Firebrace was buried in the north cloister on 1st February 1688 and her infant daughter Mary was buried in the same grave.

Mary & Elizabeth Illingworth

Mary Illingworth and her mother Elizabeth are buried in the north transept of Westminster Abbey. The gravestone is near Robert Peel's statue.

Lady Archibald Hamilton

Anne, second wife of Lord Archibald Hamilton, was buried in the vault of Sir George Villiers in St Nicholas' chapel on 4th April 1719.

Elizabeth Gibbons, Countess of Home

Elizabeth Gibbons, Countess Dowager of Home, was buried in a vault in St John the Baptist's chapel on 23rd January 1784 aged 80.
