• Princess Beatrice’s wedding bouquet rests on Warrior’s grave

  HRH Princess Beatrice of York has sent the bouquet she carried during her wedding at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor, to Westminster Abbey to rest on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

• Edward VI

  Edward succeeded his father when he was just 9 years old and was crowned in the Abbey on 20th February 1547. He died in 1553.

• Anne of Cleves, 4th wife of Henry VIII

  Mary I ordered Anne of Cleves’ burial in the Abbey. She lies on the south side of the High Altar, her monument showing her initials.

• John Bradshaw

  Politician and Lawyer

  John Bradshaw, lawyer, politician and regicide, was buried on 22nd November 1659 with his wife in Henry VII's chapel. His body was later dis-interred.

• Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning

  Writer and Poet

  The poet Robert Browning is buried in Poets' Corner. His wife, poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, is buried in Florence, but is memorialised in Westminster Abbey.

• Sir Henry (Brodribb) Irving

  Actor

  The ashes of Sir Henry Irving, actor, lie in Poets' Corner. John Henry Brodribb (1838-1905) assumed the surname of Irving by royal licence in 1889.

  On the south wall of Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey is a marble memorial to Edmund Spenser, poet and author of The Faerie Queene.

  Guy Gascoyne, Abbey verger and carpenter, was buried in the north transept in the reign of Mary I but no marker remains for him.

  A large white marble monument to Elizabeth, Duchess of Northumberland stands in this chapel. This was designed by Robert Adam and sculpted by Nicholas Read.

  Various members of Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon's family are buried with him in a vault in the north ambulatory, near Henry VII's chapel.

• Edward V & Richard Duke of York

  The presumed remains of Edward V and Richard Duke of York are buried in the Abbey in a white marble sarcophagus designed by Christopher Wren.

• Charles Dickens

  Writer and Novelist

  A small stone with a simple inscription marks the grave of Charles Dickens, famous English novelist, in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey.

• Mary II

  Mary and her husband William III were crowned as joint monarchs in 1689. A coronation chair was specially made for Mary's use. Their wax effigies can also be seen.

• George II and Caroline

  George II and Queen Caroline were crowned in the Abbey on 11th October 1727. They are buried next to each other in the Lady Chapel.

• Anne Mowbray, Duchess of York

  Anne Mowbray, Duchess of York, was married to Richard, Duke of York, son of Edward IV when both were children. She was buried at the Abbey.

• George Howe

  Soldier

  In the north-west tower chapel in the nave is a memorial to George Augustus, 3rd Viscount Howe. He was commander of the Royal American regiment.
