  • President of Indonesia visits Abbey

    The President of the Republic of Indonesia laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday 31st October 2012, as part of his official State Visit to the United Kingdom as the guest of Her Majesty The Queen.

    The Dean escorted the President on a short tour of the Abbey before inviting him to sign the Distinguished Visitors' Book.

    The President of Israel, H.E. Mr Shimon Peres, visited the Abbey on Wednesday 19th November and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

    He was greeted at the West Door of the Abbey by the Dean, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall.

    The President of Mexico, HE Felipe Calderon and his wife Margarita Zavala, visited Westminster Abbey on Monday 30th March 2009.

    He was welcomed to the Abbey by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, who later escorted the President on a tour of the Abbey.

  • A joint celebration of Solemn Vespers

    The choirs of Westminster Abbey and the Roman Catholic Westminster Cathedral will sing together at the Cathedral in Victoria Street on Friday 7th May 2010 at 5.00pm for a joint celebration of Solemn Vespers.

    During Edwardtide in October they join for Evensong at the Abbey.

    Our figures show that the average gender pay gap at the Abbey is 2% in favour of men and the median is 11.6% in favour of women.

    The Abbey today mourns the loss of The Reverend Jane Sinclair, former Rector of St Margaret’s and Canon of Westminster, who has died.
