• Abbey welcomes President of Latvia

  The President of the Republic of Latvia, His Excellency Raimonds Vējonis, visited Westminster Abbey today, Tuesday 19th July 2016, and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

• Diana, Princess of Wales

  Diana, Princess of Wales was tragically killed in a car accident on 31st August 1997. Her funeral was held in Westminster Abbey on 6th September.

• Princess Margaret, daughter of George VI

  Princess Margaret was the second daughter of King George VI and the sister of Queen Elizabeth II. She married at Westminster Abbey in 1960.

• Joan, daughter of Edward III

  A small bronze statuette (weeper) of Joan, daughter of Edward III, can be seen on the tomb of her father in Westminster Abbey.

• William of Hatfield

  A small bronze statuette, or weeper, of William of Hatfield can be seen on the tomb of his father Edward III in Westminster Abbey.

  In the chapel of St Nicholas is the tomb of William Dudley, Bishop of Durham. The Purbeck marble altar tomb has lost the brass effigy.

  On a pillar in St Margaret's church is a marble cartouche for master carpenter John Churchill. He served the King and later Queen Anne.

  Dr John Chamber or Chambers was buried in St Margaret's church Westminster on 2nd July 1549 but nothing marks his grave.

  Bridget Holmes, a servant to the royal household, was buried in the north cloister on 26th October 1691. Her grave was at the western end.

  Nicholas Ellis (or Ellys), stonemason, was buried in St Margaret's Westminster in 1556 but has no monument or marker.

  Representations of St George and his dragon can be seen in Westminster Abbey on Henry VIIs tomb and grille, in the Lady Chapel statue series, in stained glass windows to the YMCA and Sir Benjamin Baker in the nave, and in the window in St Benedicts chapel.

• Edward IV

  Edward IV was crowned in Westminster Abbey on 28th June 1461. His queen Elizabeth Woodville was crowned in 1465. Their infant daughter Margaret has a small monument in St Edward's chapel.

• Edward VII

  Albert Edward, eldest son of Queen Victoria, was born in 1841. His coronation, with his wife Alexandra of Denmark, was held on 9th August 1902.

• Henry VI

  Henry VI was crowned in Westminster Abbey in 1429 aged 8. He has a modern statue in the Lady Chapel.

• Edward VIII

  King Edward VIII abdicated the throne before he could be crowned and was succeeded by his brother King George VI.

  Artist and Priest/Minister

  The Reverend Christopher Hildyard, Minor Canon and Sacrist of Westminster Abbey, was buried in St Faith's chapel, and also has an oval stone tablet.

  Soldier

  George Fitzroy, Earl and Duke of Northumberland, was buried in the vault of the Duke of Albemarle in the north aisle of Henry VII's chapel.
