  Writer and Poet

  On 16th January 1928 the ashes of the poet and writer Thomas Hardy were buried in Poets' Corner, north of the grave of Charles Dickens.

  In the west cloister is a monument to John Laurence (Lawrence). This was originally in the south walk, where he was presumably buried, but was moved.

  Several members of the Mansell family of Glamorgan in south Wales are buried in Westminster Abbey, including Thomas, Edward, Henry, Mary, Francis and Elizabeth.
