  The Right Reverend Richard Jackson was ordained and consecrated to the episcopate as Suffragan Bishop of Lewes in the Diocese of Chichester by the Archbishop of Canterbury and other bishops at a Eucharist in the Abbey on Wednesday 14th May 2014, the feast of St Matthias the Apostle.

• Peter Holder to be Organist at Christ Church, Oxford

  Peter Holder, Sub-Organist at Westminster Abbey, has been appointed Organist and Official Student (Tutorial Fellow) at Christ Church, Oxford. He will take up his new post in the autumn.

  Richard Steward was nominated Dean of Westminster but he followed the future Charles II into exile during the English Civil War so was never installed.

  In the north choir aisle is the grave, with brass letters, of three young children of Henry Hart Milman, Canon of Westminster 1835 to 1849.

  In the west cloister is a white marble tablet to John and Avis Freeman. Called "Honest Brother Freeman" he was a member of the Abbey.

  Samuel Horsley was Dean of Westminster from 1793-1802 but he has no memorial in the Abbey. His portrait hangs in the Deanery.

  Dr William Turner, singer and composer, was buried with his wife in the west cloister. For the coronation of James II he wrote two anthems.
