• Monks of Westminster

  In the chapel of St Benedict is a stone tablet set beneath the carved head of a monk. The sculptor was Albert Siegenthaler.

• Mary I

  Mary Tudor was the daughter of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon. She was crowned in the Abbey on 1st October 1553 and lies buried with Elizabeth I.

• Alfred, Lord Tennyson

  Poet

  Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Poet Laureate, died in 1892. His funeral at Westminster Abbey was attended by thousands of mourners. Bust by T. Woolner.

• James Wyatt

  Architect

  James Wyatt, architect, is buried in the south transept. He was Surveyor of the Fabric at the Abbey from 1776 to his death.

  A statue to modern martyr Lucian Tapiedi was unveiled in July 1998 and stands above the west entrance to Westminster Abbey. Sculptor Tim Crawley.
