• Henry I

  Henry I’s coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 5th August 1100. He married Princess Matilda of Scotland at Westminster Abbey on 11th November 1100.

  In the churchyard of St Margaret's Westminster is an altar tomb for Alexander Davis, scrivener, and his wife Mary, who later married John Tregonwell.

  The ashes of William Hartley Carnegie, Sub-Dean of Westminster, and his second wife Mary Endicott Carnegie are buried at the west end of the nave.

• Archibald and Mary MacGougan

  Archibald MacGougan was buried in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey on 2nd February 1814 aged 39. Mary was buried on 5th January 1814.

• William and Mary Bulmer

  William and Mary Bulmer and their son William are buried in the west cloister but their memorials perished long ago and the graves are unmarked.

  In the north choir aisle, not far from her grave, is a marble monument to Dame Mary James, wife of Sir John James.

  Dame Mary Billing, of Conington, was a benefactor to St Margaret's, giving money towards building the south aisle, and she was buried in the church.

• Mary, Duchess of Hamilton

  Mary, Duchess of Hamilton was buried in May 1638 in the vault of the Countess of Buckingham on the north side of Henry VII's chapel.

• Dame Mary Steele

  Dame Mary Steele, second wife of politician and writer Sir Richard Steele, is buried in the south transept. Her gravestone inscription is now very worn.

  Mary Illingworth and her mother Elizabeth are buried in the north transept of Westminster Abbey. The gravestone is near Robert Peel's statue.

  Levi Justin Skaggs and his wife Mary Cornelia (Dee) were generous benefactors to the Westminster Abbey restoration appeal. In Henry VII's chapel are two windows.

  In St Margaret's church Westminster is a brass commemorating Mary and Jane Lavie. Three mosaic panels were given by the family.

  Mary, Countess of Kent was buried in St Paul's chapel in Westminster Abbey on 20th March 1644 but nothing marks her grave.
