• Abbey to mark Warrior centenary

  Westminster Abbey will mark the centenary of the burial of the Unknown Warrior with a special service, to be broadcast live on BBC One, on 11th November.

• George, John, Arabella and Henrietta Churchill

  Politician, Soldier and Sailor

  Admiral George Churchill was buried in the nave of Westminster Abbey and has a large monument. His sister Arabella is also buried. John Churchill Duke of Marlborough was briefly buried here then moved to Blenheim Palace.

• William and Catherine Gladstone

  Statesman

  In 1903 a statue to William Gladstone, Prime Minister, was unveiled. A gravestone, to William and his wife Catherine, was put in after Catherine’s death.

• Queen Anne

  Anne was crowned in the Abbey on 23rd April 1702. She is buried with her husband Prince George of Denmark in a vault in the Lady Chapel.

• Anne of Cleves, 4th wife of Henry VIII

  Mary I ordered Anne of Cleves’ burial in the Abbey. She lies on the south side of the High Altar, her monument showing her initials.

• Edith Cavell

  The first part of the funeral for nurse Edith Cavell was held at Westminster Abbey on 15th May 1919. She was shot by the Germans.

• Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex

  Soldier

  Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex is buried in St John the Baptist's chapel in Westminster Abbey. He was born on 11th January 1591.

• Princess Margaret, daughter of George VI

  Princess Margaret was the second daughter of King George VI and the sister of Queen Elizabeth II. She married at Westminster Abbey in 1960.

  Mary Tudor was the daughter of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon. She was crowned in the Abbey on 1st October 1553 and lies buried with Elizabeth I.

• Maud Holland, Countess of St Pol

  Maud Holland, Countess of St Pol was apparently buried in Westminster Abbey but the location of her grave is unknown.

  James Sartre, clergyman of Westminster Abbey, was buried in the south transept of the church on 5th September 1713. He has no monument or gravestone.

• Lady Ann Walpole

  Lady Ann Walpole was buried in St Andrew's chapel on 16 August 1722 but she has no marker. She was a daughter of Thomas Osborne.

• Sir Richard Price

  Sir Richard Price or Pryse was buried in St Paul's chapel but nothing marks his grave. He was the eldest son of Sir John Pryse.

• Hammond Witherley

  Hammond Witherley, singer, was buried on 4th October 1717 in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey. No gravestone seems to have been inscribed for him.

• Nicholas Assheton

  The ashes of the Hon. Nicholas Assheton were buried in the Islip chapel on 15th March 2013. He was Chief Honorary Steward from 2002-2006.

  Francis Coghlan, Irish lawyer, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey but has no marker.

  Thomas Ford, composer and musician, was buried in St Margaret's Church in 1648 but he has no memorial or marker.

  Priest and Musician

  Edmund Nelham, musician and Minor Canon of Westminster Abbey, was buried in the cloisters in 1646 but he has no marker or memorial.

• The Reverend Mark Birch

  The Reverend Mark Birch has been a Minor Canon at Westminster Abbey since January 2015.
