Abbey Choir Thrills with Festival Performance

Westminster Abbey was full on the evening of Tuesday 16th May for a performance of J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor by the Choir of the Abbey and the period instrument ensemble St James’ Baroque under the direction of the Abbey’s Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O’Donnell. All the solo arias were sung by choristers and lay vicars of the Abbey Choir.

Abbey to close in late April for Coronation preparations
Monday, 6th March 2023
Westminster Abbey will be closed to visitors and worshippers from Tuesday 25th April and will re-open on Monday 8th May.

James Lupton, clergyman of Westminster Abbey, is buried in the west cloister of the Abbey. The stone was re-cut in 1958.

Solemn Liturgy of the Passion and Death of Our Lord

Musician and Priest/Minister
John Frost was Minor Canon and Chanter of Westminster Abbey 1623-1642 and was buried on 10th May 1642 in the north transept near the porch.
