Gordon Thomas Southam and his wife Jean were generous donors to the Westminster Abbey restoration appeal which culminated in the restoration of Henry VII's Chapel.

Joseph Dalby, apothecary, was buried at the east of the south cloister on 27th July 1784. He seems never to have had an inscribed gravestone.

Sarah Mildmay, wife of Humphrey Mildmay of Queen Camel in Somerset, was buried in the south transept, at the entry to St Benedict's chapel.

The Reverend Dr William Johnson, Sub-Almoner to the King, was buried in north transept of Westminster Abbey on 12th March 1667 (in modern dating).

In the north transept is the grave of William Forbes. The arms carved on the stone are quarterly Forbes with Preston of Formantine.

New memorial for Ignatius Sancho
Saturday, 14th October 2023
Charles Ignatius Sancho who escaped from a background of slavery and rose to distinction in Georgian London, will be honoured when a new memorial is dedicated in St Margaret’s Church.

Francis Atterbury, Dean of Westminster, is buried at the west end of the nave but has no monument. He was born on 6th March 1663.

George, John, Arabella and Henrietta Churchill
Politician, Soldier and Sailor
Admiral George Churchill was buried in the nave of Westminster Abbey and has a large monument. His sister Arabella is also buried. John Churchill Duke of Marlborough was briefly buried here then moved to Blenheim Palace.

Richmond Webb and his wife are buried in the east cloister. The tablet, over the door into the Pyx Chamber, has now lost its inscription.

Lady Elizabeth Rich was buried in the north transept of Westminster Abbey on 20th October 1773 aged 81 but she has no monument or gravestone.

In 1903 a statue to William Gladstone, Prime Minister, was unveiled. A gravestone, to William and his wife Catherine, was put in after Catherine’s death.
