Raymond Gordon

The ashes of Raymond Gordon, founder of the children's Horse Rangers charity, are buried in St Margaret's Church Westminster. On the south west wall is a pale stone memorial, made by Arthur Ayres. He founded the charity, which teaches horsemanship and stable management to children of all abilities, in 1954 and several services have been held at the church. He died in October 1983 aged 84. The inscription reads:

Remember Raymond Gordon 1899-1983 founder of the Horse Rangers Association. A man is never so tall as when he stoops to help a child. Abraham Lincoln

A figure of a Horse Ranger surmounted by a crown appears at the top of the tablet. The flag of the Association hangs on the wall above with a brass plaque recording that it was received in to the church on 24th June 1973.
