Anthony Lucera

Anthony Lucera, his wife Jane and daughter Esther, are buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey. Their gravestone adjoins that of Ambrose Fisher, near the Library door, but the inscription has worn away. It was recorded in an early Abbey guidebook although the first part even then was not readable:

...Anthony Lucera died September 1747 aged 60. Also of Jane his wife who died February 26th 1755 aged 58. Also the body of Mrs Esther Hinton, daughter of the above, who died October 5th 1762 aged 37 years.

Anthony, a merchant of St James's Westminster, was buried on 13th September. He married Jane Cianell in 1721 and in his will, where he is described as Antonio Lucero, otherwise Abraham De Jacob Lucera, otherwise Abraham Mora, he stated that if Esther, or Stella as she was known, died before her mother two thirds of his estate were to go the heirs of Giusepe Maria Gustigiano of Genoa, Italy.
