Blast off on a cosmic adventure without leaving Earth! Join us in England’s oldest walled garden to uncover the fascinating links between Westminster Abbey and the universe.

Feel transported to outer space from the heart of Westminster Abbey’s walled garden. Join us to explore the incredible connections between the Abbey and the cosmos through fun, family-friendly activities inspired by some of the greatest minds in science.

For centuries, people have gazed up at the night sky, asking big questions. Some of those who helped answer them, like Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking, are honoured right here at the Abbey. Discover their stories, follow interactive trails, get hands-on with themed crafts, and journey through space and time with help from our friends across London’s vibrant heritage community:

Craft: Kinetic Comet

  • Make an interactive cosmic creation to play with.

Trail: Stellar Trail

  • Uncover surprising links between the Abbey and outer space.

Games: Planetary Parachute Play – 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm

  • Play games on an amazing journey through our solar system.

Storytelling: Space Tales – 11:00am and 12:00pm

  • Hear stories that are out of this world.

Craft: Pom-Pom Planets

  • Interstellar fun from the Museum of Methodism.

Activity: Exploring Spacetime

  • Join King’s College to explore gravity, string theory and black holes.

Whether you’re stargazing for the first time or already dreaming of distant galaxies, this is your chance to explore the universe in a way that’s creative, curious, and close to home. Perfect for children aged 3+ (and their grown-ups). No telescope required, just your imagination!

All activities are drop in and timed activities are repetitions. Please note that all details and timings may be subject to alteration.
