Go wild in Westminster! Explore the plants and creatures of our walled garden, where nature has thrived for centuries.

Step into a world where history and nature grow side by side. You’ll explore a hidden green space in the heart of London - Westminster Abbey’s walled garden, where wildlife has flourished for over 900 years.

Join us for a fun-filled day celebrating the natural world. From buzzing bees to towering trees, we’ll branch out into the plants and animals that make this garden so special. Hear nature-inspired tales from some of London’s most enchanting storytellers, get stuck into creative crafts, and take part in activities designed to spark curiosity about the environment:

Activity: Test your green fingers

  • Plant a sensational seed, to grow (and sniff) at home.

Performance: Chinese Lion Dance – 11:30am and 12:30pm

  • Meet a dancing lion unlike any from inside the Abbey.

Storytelling: Seasonal Stories – 11:00am and 12:00pm

  • Hear tales that take you from ocean to sky.

Trail: Branch out

  • Explore our ancient garden through its oldest residents: the trees!

Craft: Eco-Badge Making

  • Spread your environmental message with Root & Branch.

Activity: Animals and Artificial Intelligence

  • Put artificial intelligence to the test with your own animal drawings.

Whether your family loves bugs, birds, or simply being outdoors, there’s something to engage every young explorer. Ideal for children aged 3+ (and their grown-ups), this event invites you to connect with nature in a truly historic setting.

All activities are supported by our wonderful friends from across London’s heritage community. Come nurture your curiosity, and maybe even your green fingers!

All activities are drop in and timed activities are repetitions. Please note that all details and timings may be subject to alteration.
