Fraternité Family Fun: Shield Shenanigans

Date Time Location Price

Join us to spot shields at Westminster Abbey, learn all about them, then design and paint your own to take home with you.

For hundreds of years, shields have been colourfully decorated to show family, status, beliefs and achievements. Edward III even created a shield to represent his claim to the French throne!

What are your favourite colours? Do you have a favourite animal? Or symbol? Maybe your school, club or sports team has a badge or a logo. Could you use them to make a design that represents you?

Age suitability

This activity is suitable for children aged 3+.

All children must be accompanied by an adult throughout their time at the Abbey.

Please note that admission to this activity does not include independent access to the Abbey.
