Feast of the Translation of Saint Edward the Confessor
Celebrate the life of Saint Edward with us, as we mark the day of his translation to the Shrine in the centre of the Abbey.
The service will mark 756 years since the remains of Saint Edward the Confessor were moved, or 'translated' from the High Altar of the Abbey to the Shrine built by Henry III during his reconstruction. On this day, we honour the life and witness of Saint Edward, whose piety, generosity and miracles of healing resulted in his canonisation by Pope Alexander III in 1161.
