William and James Robertson

Colonel William Robertson was buried in the south cloister of Westminster Abbey in June 1802 aged 78 but no marker remains. He came from Kincraigie in Perthshire, Scotland and was Colonel of the Royal Invalids (Regiment of Royal Fusiliers). His wife was Crawford (Leslie) who was buried in August 1797 aged 59.

A relative could be the James Robertson who was buried in the south cloister on 8th January 1812 aged 66. His first wife Charlotte died in 1802 and his second wife Mary (of 9 Abingdon Street, Westminster) was buried with him on 7th January 1836 aged 79. She was the daughter of Aaron Clayton and his wife Margaret (she was buried on 11th February 1807) and her first husband was John Borrett (buried on 1st September 1802). The last two were also in the south cloister. No grave inscriptions remain for any of them.

James's children were Colonel James Thomas Robertson, Robert (Lieutenant in the Hon. East India Company service), William Daniel, Maria (wife of James Elphinstone) and Charlotte (wife of Dr William Hunter).
