The Rank Group
The Rank Group were generous benefactors to the restoration of the Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey in 1992-1995. A decorated metal plaque records the name beside the steps leading to the chapel:

The various donor plaques were designed by Donald Buttress and inserted in 1999.
The Rank Organisation was founded by J. Arthur Rank (1888-1972) (later Baron Rank) who was one of the great British film producers of the 20th century. He had interests in Pinewood and Denham Studios and bought the Odeon cinema chain in 1938. In 1953 he set up the J. Arthur Rank Group Charity, later The Rank Foundation. (At the time of the restoration of the chapel the Rank Group was not in the gambling industry).
